3Guide Docs

Docs mode

A search box that plays the right how-to demo. No chat and no AI, so it's instant and costs nothing per question.

Docs mode turns the widget into a search box. A visitor types what they want to do, and the matching Guide Pro demo plays right below the box. It can play the whole demo, only the steps that match, or short clips from several demos back to back.

Why it matters:

  • No AI cost. It's a plain text search, so it doesn't use AI credits.
  • Instant, and always right. People only ever see demos you recorded and approved. Nothing is generated.
  • Self-serve help for teams that want documentation, not a chatbot.

Before you start: you have at least one published Guide Pro demo.

Mark demos as documentation

Open Content → Guide Pro and switch on Use as documentation on each demo card you want to be searchable. Only these demos are searched. The Documentation tab lists them.

Turn on Docs mode

Choose one:

  • For the whole widget: set data-widget-mode="docs" on the Guidance script, or choose the Docs agent in Agent Blueprint.
  • From your own button: <button data-guideai-open-chat="docs">Search how-tos</button>. The search box opens under the button.
  • From code: guideai.openDocsSearch(buttonElement) opens it, and guideai.closeDocsSearch() closes it.

Try it

Reload your app, open the widget and type a task, for example "invite a teammate". The best match starts playing.

Docs mode or Guidance mode?

Use Docs mode when you have recorded demos for common tasks and want fast, predictable answers. Use Guidance mode when people ask questions you haven't recorded. It builds a walkthrough on the live page.
